Debra Marie (She/hers) is a student board member working on her BSN at Oregon Health and Science University. She is passionate about reproductive justice and birth work with a specific focus on Black, Latinx, and LGBTQ communities. She is currently working on her doula certification and will have the opportunity to work as a Traditional Healthcare Worker serving birthing people covered by the Oregon Health Plan. Debra Marie plans to apply to midwifery school in the future and continue working to make the birth and gynecologic world more equitable for systemically marginalized groups. She moved to Oregon in October 2021 from Colorado where she lived for 10 years. While in Colorado she worked extensively with houseless communities around the Denver area and completed her first bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from the University of Colorado Boulder. Debra Marie joined ABNAO to build community and help advocate for communities of color in the healthcare system.
