On February 9th, 2020 ABNAO became the first chapter affiliate of NBNA in the Pacific Northwest. ABNAO actively invests in our communities and the future by helping every nurse excel and achieve greatness. ABNAO is a safe space for Black nurses to unwind, connect, and find support.

ABNAO Collective Agreements

ABNAO is a safe space for Black nurses to speak freely, honestly, and without interruption.

Our members acknowledge the generations of historical trauma, appropriation, and subjugation of African Americans and are committed to admonishing those acts by participating in reparative justice.

We acknowledge Racism is not our fault. Those of us who benefit from racial privilege will amplify and foster inclusivity in all healthcare spaces where Black voices are underrepresented.

We pledge to transform racial tension with integrity, courage, and reverence for the partnerships we are creating.

Our Mission

The Alliance of Black Nurses Association of Oregon (ABNAO) aims to close the health inequity gap by promoting Black Oregonians' wellness through collaborative partnerships, advocacy, increased visibility, and mentorship of current and prospective Black nurses.

"Black nurses in Oregon sit at the intersection of a fragmented health care system. ABNAO offers a safe space for Black nurses in Oregon and Southwest Washington to support, celebrate, and nurture each other."

-Founder of ABNAO Danaya Hall RN
